Rare Case at Norq-Mars Medical Center: 14-Year-Old Boy's Heart Located on Right Side of Chest

A rare case has been reported at the Norq-Mars Medical Center. The patient is a 14-year-old boy. When arriving at the Norq-Mars Medical Center, the complaint was a sensation of heartbeat on the right side (according to the mother, the child noticed this a year ago while playing football). During the echocardiogram, the child's heart was located on the right side, but it was not typical dextrocardia, which raised suspicion for the doctor. Consequently, a contrast chest computerized tomography was performed. The results were impressive.

The child was found to have agenesis of the right lung (the lung did not develop, leading to the absence of the right main bronchus, the right pulmonary artery, and the right pulmonary veins), which resulted in the diaphragm (including the heart) being positioned on the right side of the chest. This atypical heart placement has not caused hemodynamic disturbances; the child has a structurally healthy heart. The child has been referred for consultations with a pulmonologist and an orthopedic specialist, and he will be under dynamic observation at Norq-Mars Medical Center.
