Finland Announces Ban on Entry of Vehicles with Russian License Plates
The Finnish authorities have endorsed the European Commission's proposals for new sanctions and will prohibit the entry of vehicles with license plates registered in Russia starting from September 16, announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
It is clarified that the restrictions do not apply to EU citizens permanently residing in the Russian Federation or their family members.
It is worth recalling that similar bans have previously been imposed by Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Germany. Official Tallinn has also clarified that vehicles with Russian license plates located within the territory of the region must be confiscated or re-registered. According to the European Commission, such vehicles cannot be allowed to pass, as this would imply the movement of sanctioned goods.
