Residents of Three Border Villages in Syunik Lack Transport to Goris for Over a Month

Residents of three border villages in the Syunik region have been without transportation to Goris for over a month. This was reported by Sputnik Armenia.

In May 2023, the Goris municipality launched regular free trips from Goris to the border villages of Vorotan, Bardzravan, and Shurnukh. However, transportation has not been operating for over a month due to vehicle breakdowns, and repairs are currently underway.

Residents are now forced to rely on neighbors with cars, paying for travel expenses.

The Goris municipality has informed the media that they have repeatedly announced tenders for servicing the Goris-Khndzorosk and Goris-Vorotan-Bardzravan-Shurnukh routes. No company has participated due to poor road conditions.

The municipality has been compelled to acquire two Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans for the routes, one for each.

It was noted that the vehicles are still under warranty, and therefore the broken minibus is being repaired by the selling company. The company’s administration has stated that spare parts will soon be transported to Armenia.

Considering that the Goris municipality does not have additional vehicles to service the route, residents of the border villages have been deprived of permanent communication with Goris during this period.
