Elon Musk to Transfer Control of Starlink Internet Used in Ukraine to Pentagon

American entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk has decided to transfer the control of the Starlink satellite internet segment used during the Ukrainian conflict to the Pentagon, so he no longer bears responsibility for the boundaries and usage rules, according to his biographer Walter Isaacson, as reported by RIA Novosti.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Isaacson mentioned that Musk questioned his involvement in the war following a barrage of criticism after refusing to connect the Starlink service near the shores of Crimea. Musk reportedly asked, "Why am I in this war?"

"I created Starlink so that people could relax, watch movies on Netflix, play video games. I did not intend to create something that could lead to nuclear war," Isaacson recounted Musk's words.

Earlier today, we reported that American media outlets have been publishing excerpts from Musk’s new biography for several days. In particular, the book reveals that in 2022, the entrepreneur allegedly ordered the disconnection of the Starlink satellite communication network in the Crimea region, thereby disrupting Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian navy ships.

Musk himself explained that Starlink was not originally activated in this region, and Ukrainian authorities had requested to connect it. Musk refused, as he stated that in this case, SpaceX would "clearly be involved in the war and escalation of the conflict."
