Azerbaijan Proposes Inclusion of Minority Rights Clause in Peace Agreement with Armenia
During intergovernmental dialogue with Armenia, the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) is not being discussed; however, it is being separately addressed with representatives of the Azerbaijani Armenian community for their reintegration. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, to reporters.
“At the same time, we are proposing to Armenia to include a clause on the rights of national minorities in our peace agreement as a mutual obligation of the parties. We, the two states, would commit to respecting the rights of national minorities in our territories based on our constitutions and several international treaties of which we are a part,” he noted.
