Death Toll from Earthquake in Morocco Exceeds 2900
The death toll from the recent earthquake in Morocco has surpassed 2900, according to Ria.ru. In the statement from the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was reported that "the number of fatalities has reached 2901, while the injured count stands at 5530."
Recall that the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) had notified that on September 9, at 02:11 Yerevan time, an earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale occurred in Morocco, about 80 km from Marrakech. According to the Moroccan National Institute of Geophysics, the earthquake's intensity was recorded at 7 on the Richter scale.
Many countries have offered their assistance to Morocco. Representatives of Russian religious organizations have also announced that they are organizing fundraising efforts for the victims.
