The Deputy Chief of Staff for International Cooperation of Iran's Armed Forces, Mohammad Amir Ahmadi, addressed a query from an Azerbaijani journalist in Baku regarding the alleged military buildup of Iranian troops in the north of the country. He specifically refuted the notion that these forces would enter Armenia in the event of a potential war with Azerbaijan. He stated, 'These reports are baseless. Undoubtedly, these reports are without foundation. Just days ago, our Chief of Staff and the Azerbaijani Minister of Defense had a warm telephone conversation, and the relations between the two countries are very good.'
