«Syunik is on our map where it should be» - French Ambassador Refutes Another Fake News
The French ambassador in Armenia has refuted yet another piece of fake news. In a false publication, a screenshot was attached to Olivier Decotigny's message claiming that the French embassy allegedly advises its citizens to refrain from visiting the Syunik province of Armenia. He posted about this on his Twitter microblog.
Furthermore, the authors of the fake news inadvertently revealed their deception with a ‘historical’ note stating that in 1921, Syunik was ‘incorrectly transferred’ to Soviet Armenia. The publication also included a map of Armenia without Syunik (again purportedly from the French Embassy).
“No new news here. Our recommendations for tourists were last updated on July 18, 2023. And the province of Syunik is included on our map of Armenia, just as it should be,” he stated.
