Garik Galeyan Detained
Garik Galeyan, the father of Mikitar Galeyan, a serviceman who died in the 44-day war, has been detained for two months. This was reported by lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan to journalists.
The court's decision will be appealed. According to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, during Garik Galeyan's personal search, a polyethylene bag containing three similar polyethylene packages weighing 1.59 grams, 1.51 grams, and 1.60 grams, respectively, was found and seized. The packages contained a greenish substance resembling marijuana with a distinct odor.
According to the conclusion from the police forensic center, the substance found in his possession is classified as marijuana. On the same day, a criminal case was initiated based on the features of part 1 of Article 393 of the RA Criminal Code, which was connected to a prior criminal case initiated against Galeyan in the Heavy Crimes Investigation Division of the Investigative Committee of Yerevan, based on part 5 of Article 195 and part 1 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code.
A decision to arrest Garik Galeyan was made by the investigative body on September 6.
