At this Moment, Mika Badalyan and Ashot Gevorgyan Have Witness Status: Lawyer

Journalist Ashot Gevorgyan and pro-Russian blogger Mika Badalyan currently hold witness status. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by their lawyer, Liana Grigoryan.

“If necessary, they will be summoned for questioning as witnesses; if not, we will await further developments. They are neither subject to any precautionary measures nor face any travel restrictions,” the lawyer stated.

Grigoryan also informed that a complaint regarding the legality of the detentions has been submitted to the General Jurisdiction Court of Syunik, and a court session has already been scheduled for Ashot Gevorgyan on September 12.

It is noteworthy that they were released last night.

According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, among the seven individuals detained on suspicion of illegally acquiring, possessing, and selling weapons and ammunition in Syunik, two were apprehended at the moment of illegally selling firearms and military ammunition. According to the preliminary investigation body’s report, an inspection of the crime scene was carried out, along with searches of residences and vehicles, and interrogations conducted. As a result, an AK-type assault rifle, combat ammunition, grenades, grenade launchers, pistols, bayonets, various military property, and cannabis plants were seized.
