VIDEO: Terrorist Attack Prevented on Crimea's Railway, Russian FSB Arrests Terrorist
The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted preparations for a sabotage-terrorist act targeting one of the transport infrastructure facilities in Crimea. This is reported by Russian media, citing a statement published on the agency's website.
The arrested individual is a Russian citizen, a resident of Sevastopol, born in 1978. It has been revealed that he collected information regarding the locations of the Russian Ministry of Defense's facilities and units in Crimea on behalf of Ukraine's military intelligence. The perpetrator was also preparing for a terrorist act at a railway transport facility.
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case against the arrested individual, and the court has chosen to impose a pre-trial detention measure. Investigations are ongoing to uncover all circumstances of the criminal activity and identify other individuals involved.
This is not the first instance of the FSB preventing terrorist acts. On September 7, it was reported that security forces in Donetsk had foiled terrorist plans and discovered a weapons cache held by Ukrainian nationalists before the upcoming elections.
