High Probability of Large-Scale War Between Azerbaijan and Turkey in Coming Days, Turkologist Says

“There is a significant probability that in the coming days, Azerbaijan and Turkey will start a large-scale war against the Republic of Armenia.” This was stated by Turkologist Varujan Geghamyan on his Facebook page.

He outlined three key points to consider:

  • “Currently, there are massive accumulations of military hardware and troops along the borders of Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, and Syunik regions, evidence of the planned Turkish-Azerbaijani large-scale offensive. Near-daily gunfire, the aggressive rhetoric and propaganda from the political and military leadership of Azerbaijan and Turkey, the mobilization of reserves in Azerbaijan, among other factors, signify this.”
  • “If an attack occurs, it will also come from the Nakhchivan side, targeting the area from Yeraskh to the southern outskirts of Syunik. It is evident that the enemy is preparing heavily for that direction.”
  • “Turkey may be involved not only as a coordinator but also as a direct (masked) participant in the fire. In the event of an attack, the Turkish-Azerbaijani forces will aim to create complete panic in Armenia and push for unconditional surrender under all conditions (which the de-facto pro-Turkish authorities of Armenia are already prepared to make the necessary concessions for). Additionally, there will be an attempt to cut off northern Armenia from the south. We are talking about the very narrow section in the Jermuk-Vayk line, which does not exceed 30 km in width (see the attached map). It would take the Turkish and Azerbaijani forces only a few hours to breach such a distance.”

The Turkologist added, “It is unnecessary to say that the de-facto authorities of Armenia neither have the capability nor the desire to resist this threat. If this plan succeeds, the state of Armenia will effectively cease to exist. However, Armenia is not doomed, and there is a chance to counter this. The first necessary step for this is the removal of the de-facto authorities of Armenia. Only in this case will all the efforts we make—from the trenches to the information field—be effective. The rest is self-deception.”
