Turkey Opposes Armenia's NATO Membership, Says Turkish Diplomat

The chances of Armenia joining NATO are extremely low due to a possible veto from Turkey and several other countries, stated a former Turkish representative in the alliance to RIA Novosti.

“To become a member of the alliance, the approval of all member countries is necessary. If several countries use their veto right, Armenia cannot become a NATO member. Turkey's position on certain issues is well known, so I believe that Armenia's chances of joining the alliance are extremely low, and it is not even worth speculating on what the possible voting results would be,” the diplomat emphasized.

It is worth noting that earlier, a senior official from the alliance had called on Prime Minister Pashinyan to join NATO.
