The Issue of Impeachment of the President of Georgia Poses a Risk: Borrell

The European Union's High Representative and Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, has stated that the impeachment issue concerning the President of Georgia poses risks and could lead to further polarization, as reported by Georgian First Channel.

According to him, all institutions must work together. “The impeachment issue is a risk that will further exacerbate the situation and deepen polarization. All institutions must work together and support the country on its European path. There is potential to succeed in this process in Georgia. You have a strong administration, a vibrant civil society, and at this historic moment, collaboration is essential for success,” Borrell said during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.

It is noteworthy that on September 1, Georgia's ruling party announced the initiation of impeachment proceedings against the president due to her visit to Europe for meetings with the leaders of EU countries.
