Stepanakert Distributes Coupons, But There is No Bread in Stores
The food situation in Stepanakert is becoming increasingly dire by the day. There has been no bread since this morning. Coupons have been distributed, but there is no bread in the stores. Long queues formed in front of the bakeries since 4 AM, but no bread was delivered. People are wandering around the city with their coupons in hand. Mothers are returning home empty-handed. Some mothers, not awakening their children this morning, skipped sending them to school due to a lack of food.
“I didn’t wake my child up this morning. There is no tea, no sweets, no bread, no eggs, no dairy products. The mothers of Artsakh are not complaining. They are stating the reality. I did not send my child to school today either, because the power was cut off from 7 AM to 9 AM. I have no stove, no wood, how am I supposed to keep a cup of cold water until 1 PM for my child at school?” complained Ani Mangasarian from Stepanakert.
Marine Ghahryan also shared a photo of a schoolchild in line for bread on her Facebook page, writing: “After walking kilometers to school this morning, he comes starving and stands in line for bread. He hasn’t even changed his clothes. He sits and waits. Occasionally, he opens a book to read something, sometimes checking to see if someone cuts in line.”
