Counterfeit Currency Incident in Tashir: Driver Fleeing After Filling Up with Fake 20,000 Dram Bill

On September 5, at 17:35, employees of the Lori police were approached by a worker at a gas station in Tashir city, reporting that the driver of an Opel vehicle had paid with a counterfeit 20,000 dram bill for fuel.

The police dispatched an operational group from the Tashir division. It was discovered that the driver had filled the tank with 1,000 drams worth of gas and attempted to pay with the counterfeit bill. The gas station attendant immediately noticed that the bill was fake and informed the driver, who fled the scene without retrieving the bill.

Through joint efforts, it was determined that the vehicle, which was actually owned by a resident of Spitak, was being driven by a 39-year-old man from the village of Kourtan. On the same day, he was located and arrested in Tashir city.

The man made a relevant statement and provided the counterfeit bill. The documents have been forwarded to the investigation department of Stepanavan. The circumstances are under investigation.

It is noteworthy that Auroranews has reported that one of the Telegram pages advertised on TikTok sells counterfeit bills. An examination of the page revealed that it mainly involved counterfeit 20,000 dram bills.
