Rosselkhoznadzor Prohibits Armenian Company from Importing Carrot Seeds into Russia

Rosselkhoznadzor has prohibited an Armenian registered company, "Lavatera" LLC, from importing carrot seeds into Russia due to the detection of a quarantine object for Russia and EAEU member countries. This information was published on the website of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia.

According to the statement, effective from September 11, Rosselkhoznadzor has banned the import of carrot seeds from the Armenian delivery point of "Lavatera" LLC (Yerevan) into Russia. Measures have been taken in connection with the discovery of the zebra chip (Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum), a quarantine object for Russia and EAEU member countries, during the phytosanitary control of the batch of seeds that entered Russia.

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia also indicates that the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum is a pathogen of a dangerous disease that mainly affects potatoes and carrots. It should be noted that a search for the company "Lavatera" LLC may yield results only in Chelyabinsk and the Moscow suburb of Serpukhov, but not in Yerevan.
