Video: Josep Borrell Struggles with Georgian Greetings in Tbilisi
Josep Borrell, the head of European diplomacy, arrived in Tbilisi for a two-day visit but struggled to greet journalists in Georgian. He mispronounced the Georgian greeting several times.
At the very beginning of his speech, he attempted to say in their language, “Gamarjoba”. One participant in the audience corrected Borrell aloud by saying “Gamarjoba”, after which Borrell tried to rectify his mistake by saying, “Gamarjoba? Good, Gamarjoba.”
After that, the speech continued in English.
Regarding the agenda of the visit, the EU's top diplomat plans to discuss with the leadership of Georgia the reforms needed to achieve candidate status for European Union membership. Additionally, topics include European investments in the Georgian economy.
