External Forces Gave Ultimatum to Araik Harutyunyan, Says Tigran Petrosyan
Tigran Petrosyan, the head of the anti-crisis council associated with the President of Artsakh, spoke about the resignation of President Araik Harutyunyan during an interview with the newspaper 'Hraparak'.
“Araik Harutyunyan’s resignation happened very urgently; he was forced to leave after being given an ultimatum by external forces. I won’t comment further on this, let him speak for himself. We have a very significant problem in Artsakh now—both the executive and legislative bodies are not legitimate. Since the war, they have not been taken seriously by anyone; there is zero confidence from the people. These individuals must now select a president among themselves. I proposed that we consider the results of the 2020 elections and allow the candidate who made it to the second round, Masis Mayilyan, a chance. He is a logical candidate. Selecting anyone else will lead to the spilling of Armenian blood in Artsakh.
Samvel Shahramanyan is being lobbied by Arkady Ghukasyan, Bako Sahakyan, and Araik Harutyunyan. Our parliamentarians have always been principled only as long as they cling to their chairs. I assure you, this will lead to civil war,” Petrosyan noted.
It is noteworthy that according to Article 98 of the Constitution of the Republic of Artsakh, President Araik Harutyunyan submitted his resignation to the National Assembly on September 1. He announced his decision to resign on August 31.
It should also be mentioned that the presidential election in Artsakh is scheduled for September 8.
