Central Electoral Commission Approves Sample Ballots for Yerevan Council Elections
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has approved the sample ballots for the Yerevan City Council elections during an extraordinary session on September 7. This information has been reported by the CEC’s press service.
According to the source, the CEC has also approved the applications for self-withdrawal submitted by the candidates so far. Self-withdrawal applications were submitted by Abgar Albabyan, a representative of the proportional list of the 'Mother Armenia' party alliance, and Hovhannes Zakaryan, a representative of the proportional list of the 'Strength of the Fatherland' party. Hovhannes Zakaryan’s application was notarized according to the established procedure, making his presence at the meeting not mandatory, while Abgar Albabyan attended the meeting and presented identification documents to the commission.
In line with the timeline set by the electoral code, the deadline for parties, alliances, and individuals running for Council member to submit self-withdrawal applications was 18:00 on September 7, thus the CEC can no longer accept self-withdrawal applications.
The CEC has also decided to scan the voter lists submitted for participation in the council elections. In another decision, the commission has approved the invitation to the European Platform for Democratic Elections organization to observe the Yerevan City Council elections scheduled for September 17, 2023.
