Azerbaijan's President Must Be Held Accountable: U.S. Congressman
U.S. Congressman Frank Pallone believes that words must be transformed into actions, and the President of Azerbaijan should be held accountable for his campaign of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh.
According to Armenpress, he made this statement in response to the phone conversation between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during which Blinken reiterated the call to open the Lachin corridor.
“Secretary Blinken is rightly calling for an end to the blockade of the Lachin corridor, but these words must be followed by meaningful actions, especially given that the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh continues to worsen,” Pallone wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page.
The congressman emphasized the importance of holding Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev accountable for establishing peace. “Aliyev's crimes against humanity and his deliberate campaign of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh must have consequences,” he stated, adding that peace in the Caucasus will not be established if “Aliyev is not held accountable for Azerbaijan's aggression against the Armenian people.”
