Armenian-American Military Exercises Cause Concern in Moscow, Says Ryabkov
Russia has drawn the attention of its allies in Armenia to the fact that their military exercises with the United States are perceived with an element of concern in Moscow. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov stated this in an interview with TASS.
“Of course, we paid attention to this, and we drew the serious attention of our allies in Armenia to the fact that we perceive it as an element of concern,” he said in response to a question from TASS.
According to him, Moscow believes that members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) should adhere to the practice of exercises with their allies.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov also commented on the upcoming exercises, emphasizing that they “raise concerns.” According to him, Russia “will deeply analyze and monitor the situation related to the Armenian-American military exercises.”
It should be noted that the Ministry of Defense of Armenia announced that from September 11-20, within the framework of preparation for participation in international peacekeeping missions, a joint Armenian-American exercise titled “ARZIV WORKING PARTNER-2023” will take place at the Defense Ministry's peacekeeping brigade training center “Zar” and at another defense ministry training facility.
