Anna Hakobyan's Speech in Kyiv: 30,000 Children in Artsakh Trapped on a Small Piece of Land, Deprived of Their Rights

Anna Hakobyan, the wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, participated in the "Annual Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen" in Kyiv, where she delivered a speech.

She mentioned that they are returning from the exhibition "Martyrdom of Children," where they commemorated the children who have fallen victim in Ukraine since February 24, 2022.

“When I think about what the future has in store for my children, for the children of my country, and for children around the world, I mostly think about those kids who have no future, who remain in the past, and whose memory we just commemorated. I believe that we, the adults, have not done our utmost in time to ensure that the future does not prepare such an end for them. I feel profoundly guilty for these children. I feel very guilty for all the children in the world who have fallen victim in various wars, regardless of which country they were killed in, without discrimination based on race, color, religion, or social origin,” Mrs. Hakobyan stated.

According to Anna Hakobyan, it is not normal in the 21st century to have an exhibition of “Martyr Children,” nor is it acceptable for children to have scars from shelling.

She also indicated it is not normal in the 21st century for children to be trapped, starving, and exhausted, living in fear of genocide. “While we speak, 120,000 peaceful residents of Nagorno-Karabakh are on the brink of humanitarian disaster due to the inhumane blockade of the Lachin corridor, their lives continuously under threat. 30,000 children living in Nagorno-Karabakh are suffering from malnutrition and lack of food. They are forced to stand in line for hours to receive minimal amounts of food. They frequently witness instances of fainting, which are a result of the extreme mental state of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh. 30,000 children are trapped on a small piece of land, deprived of their inalienable rights, such as the rights to food, health care, and education,” she emphasized.

Anna Hakobyan also highlighted that around 2,000 pregnant women in Nagorno-Karabakh are deprived of the opportunity to undergo basic medical examinations. According to the Prime Minister's wife, only a blocked mindset can turn a blind eye to the suffering of innocent people, and only a confused heart preserves the path of life - the blockade of the Lachin corridor, which connects Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia and the outside world. Anna Hakobyan called for courage and appreciation of every human life.
