Great Britain Remains a Dangerous Geopolitical Adversary of Russia: Naryshkin
“Great Britain has long been and still remains a dangerous geopolitical adversary of the Russian Federation.” This was stated by Sergey Naryshkin, the Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, in an interview with the “National Defense” magazine.
“Great Britain has been and continues to be a dangerous geopolitical adversary of our homeland for centuries,” Naryshkin said, adding that in many wars and conflicts aimed against Russia's interests, London has often had a hand in them.
“There are hundreds of examples of intrigues in the South Caucasus and provocations orchestrated by the British against our country. Of course, Great Britain has long since lost the power it once had, but still, guided by an principled suzerain, continues to remain very dangerous,” Naryshkin remarked.
According to him, today Britain does not play a leading role within the Anglo-American tandem, as the United States does not particularly take into account the opinions of Britain and its other allies, using them merely as servants of its own interests.
However, the Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service refrained from labeling the British and Americans as Russia’s main adversaries. “There is no need to exaggerate the unity of Anglo-Saxon elites and their role in international politics, although it should not be underestimated either,” Sergey Naryshkin stated.
