Biden Disappointed That Chinese President Will Not Attend G20 Summit
US President Joe Biden plans to attend the G20 summit in New Delhi as scheduled, despite the recent discovery of coronavirus in his wife. This was announced at a press briefing by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. According to her, Biden has not tested positive for the virus, feels well, and continues to work.
The US leader is set to depart for New Delhi tomorrow.
Earlier, John Kirby, the coordinator for strategic communications at the National Security Council, stated that Biden is disappointed that Chinese President Xi Jinping will not attend the G20 summit and, therefore, will not be able to negotiate with him.
The G20 summit will take place in New Delhi on September 9-10. Leaders from all G20 countries and nine other nations (Bangladesh, Egypt, Spain, Mauritius, Nigeria, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Singapore) have been invited. Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the summit.
