There is No Logic in the Claim That Armenia is an Anti-Russian Tool - Rubinyan

There is generally no logic in the claim that Armenia is an anti-Russian tool; there are no evidential facts to support this, and there cannot be credible analysis on this matter. This was stated by the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, ruling party MP Ruben Rubinyan, in an interview with H1, referencing information disseminated in the Russian press and statements from the opposition.

“The Republic of Armenia has always managed to extricate itself from geopolitical confrontations; this has been the case both before and after 2018. And Armenia has always fulfilled all its allied obligations,” Rubinyan said.

He also asserted that the claim that the authorities preferred EU observers over those from the CSTO is incorrect. “The political decision regarding the arrival of EU observers was made in October 2022 in Prague. You will recall the quadrilateral meeting. At that point, the subject of CSTO peacekeepers did not exist. Previously, a short-term mission had come, if you remember. That is, after the Azerbaijani attack in September, but before Prague. It came and then left. Thus, we were never faced with a choice of selecting EU observers or CSTO observers,” emphasized the Vice Speaker.

He added that the matter of CSTO observers was raised only after the decision regarding EU observers had already been made and that the CSTO mission had not been rejected.
