Preliminary Census Data Released: What is the Permanent Population of Armenia?
According to preliminary data from the census conducted in October 2022, the permanent population of Armenia is 2,932,731 people. This information was published by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.
It is noted that in 2021, the number of permanent residents in Armenia was 3,018,854, while in 2020 it was 3,213,011. Thus, compared to the 2011 census, the number of permanent residents has decreased by 86,123 people.
“The rural population accounted for 36.2% of the permanent population, while 63.8% lived in urban areas, with the majority (58.1%) residing in the capital city of Yerevan,” the report stated.
The urban population has decreased by 39,375 people or 2.1% compared to 2011, while the rural population has decreased by 46,748 people or 4.2%. It is important to note that the figures for the permanent population include the sum of the residents living continuously in Armenia and those who were present at the time of registration but are temporarily absent.
