Arman Tatoyan: The 'Tatev' Hydroelectric Power Plant, Kapan's Geghanush Tailings Dump, and Other Strategic Objects Are Under Direct Targeting by Azerbaijan

Since the end of the war, we have continuously provided evidence of the illegal presence of Azerbaijani armed forces near the 'Syunik' airport and its runways. We have shown their illegal fortifications and the dangers they pose. During this time, everything was absolutely ignored, excluding the protection based on human rights and security. Everything was denied.

Recently, there have been recorded shots fired by Azerbaijani armed forces towards both the Kapan 'Syunik' airport and a civilian aircraft carrying out flights. The damages inflicted by gunfire on the airport (arrival hall, control room, etc.) and the aircraft indicate that these were targeted strikes. Moreover, the shots have originated from illegal Azerbaijani military positions located directly adjacent to the airport's runways.

Under the targeting of Azerbaijani armed personnel are also the M2 interstate highway—the section from the airport to Kapan (km 299-301, Gortsaranayin Street)—along with parts of the Kapan community.

We have shown on numerous occasions with evidence that Azerbaijani armed forces are directly targeting not only the 'Syunik' airport but also the Jermuk HPP, the 'Tatev' HPP, the Kapan Geghanush tailings dump, and other strategic facilities. All of this further justifies the removal of Azerbaijani armed forces against the backdrop of their ongoing crimes and anti-Armenian policies, coupled with state-sponsored impunity.

Therefore, the urgent removal of Azerbaijani armed forces remains a priority, including through the establishment of a security zone. So who is responsible for all of this now? Due to nightmares over power and positions, the lives and health of our citizens have become even more endangered. Even in such a critical situation, the same denial principles continue.
