The West Must Provide Security Guarantees to Russia: Hungary

The head of the Hungarian Prime Minister's office, Gergely Gulyás, stated during a meeting with students at a summer university in Veszprém that the West needs to provide security guarantees to Russia for long-lasting peace.

According to Gulyás, for stable peace, "the Western world, which supports Ukraine, must ensure security guarantees for Russia, but definitely not NATO's membership for Ukrainians," suggesting instead the deployment of peacekeepers in the long term.

In response to a question regarding the Russo-Ukrainian war, the head of Hungary's Prime Minister's office said that Ukraine does not have a real opportunity to reclaim occupied territories, adding that "it is also clear that Russia does not pose a threat to Central Europe."
