Sudanese Army Announces Capture of Key Military Base in Khartoum
The Sudanese army has issued a statement confirming that it has established complete control over a key armored forces base located south of the capital, Khartoum. This was reported by Al Arabiya television.
"The security of the armored base in the El Shajra area, south of Khartoum, has been ensured, and additionally, rapid response forces have been pushed back from surrounding areas," the army's statement reads. As of now, there have been no official comments from special forces.
According to Al Arabiya, Sudanese armed forces continue to conduct airstrikes on the positions of rapid response forces in the capital, and sounds of artillery fire are also being heard. Heavy fighting is ongoing in the neighboring city of Omdurman as well.
In recent weeks, fierce clashes have occurred around the Khartoum armored vehicles base, which houses a large amount of military equipment. The army has managed to push special forces out of the facility several times, but they have launched new attacks from nearby areas.
