Iran's President to Visit Turkey, Says Fidan

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is expected to make an official visit to Turkey in the coming days, announced Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Sunday.

“We anticipate that Mr. Raisi will visit Turkey in connection with the eighth meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council. God willing, Raisi will meet with our president,” Fidan said during a press conference in Tehran alongside his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

Fidan stated that he discussed several issues related to the fight against terrorism and economic and trade cooperation with his Iranian counterpart. He noted that during the talks, Ankara expressed its views on the issue of clearing the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Turkey, from Syria. Fidan emphasized that Ankara expects cooperation with Damascus in the fight against the PKK and is in favor of the voluntary return of Syrian refugees to their homeland.
