VIDEO: 'This is Absurd: The Russian Side Is Shifting Its Own Inability onto the Armenian Side' - Simonian
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, was a guest on public television yesterday evening in an interview with Petros Ghazaryan, where the topic of discussion was the border situation.
Speaking about Armenian-Russian relations, Simonian described the recent statements by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, concerning the reasons behind the blockade of the Lachin corridor as absurd.
"I have seen this statement, and as far as I remember, it says that the Armenian side has recognized Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. This is absurd, as the country that should guarantee this, namely the Russian side, has recognized Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity," Simonian stated, recalling that Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an interview on November 17, 2020, that Artsakh, or Nagorno-Karabakh, has been, is, and will always be an inseparable part of Azerbaijan.
"Let’s assume the Armenian side made some statement, but there is the declaration of November 9, 2020, with the signatures of three countries, which states that the Lachin corridor is a territory 5 km wide that falls under the jurisdiction of Russian peacekeepers. Now the question is, where is this territory, and where are the Russian peacekeepers?" Simonian added. More details can be found in the video.
