The European Union expresses sorrow over the armed clashes between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which have resulted in casualties and injuries among several servicemen. This was stated by the official representative of EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell, Peter Stano, on X (formerly Twitter).
“The EU calls on all parties to refrain from further violence and to return to dialogue,” he wrote.
It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces began intense shelling targeting Armenian positions located in the Sotk and Norabak communities of the Gegharkunik region at 07:50 on September 1st. Azerbaijan also employed mortars and drones in the attack. The Armenian side has reported 3 fatalities and 2 injuries.
