Emmanuel Macron on Decisions Regarding Niger
France will make any decisions regarding Niger only after consulting with the ousted president Mohamed Bazoum, who was removed due to a coup. This was announced by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Macron emphasized that Paris recognizes Bazoum as the only legitimate leader of Niger.
“Decisions, whatever they may be, will be made based on discussions with President Bazoum,” Macron's words were cited by Agence France-Presse.
He also reaffirmed his support for the Economic Community of West African States’ “bold and clear decisions condemning the coup, which entailed severe economic sanctions.”
