VIDEO: A New Crater Has Emerged on the Moon After the Russian Probe's Crash, NASA Reports
A new crater has emerged on the Moon following the crash of a Russian spacecraft. The footage has been released by NASA.
"The crater on the Moon likely appeared after the crash of the Russian Luna-25 lander," the agency noted on its official website.
The first photograph, where the crater is absent, is dated June 27, 2020, while the second one, with the crater, is dated August 24, 2023.
Recall that on August 20, Roscosmos reported that the spacecraft had, according to preliminary data, entered a non-designated orbit, collided with the Moon, and was destroyed.
According to the state corporation, contact with Luna-25 was lost on August 19 at approximately 14:57 Moscow time (15:57 Yerevan time).
