First Satellite Tag Installed on Peregrine Falcon in Armenia

For the first time in Armenia, a satellite tag has been installed on a peregrine falcon, allowing for the study of its movements and behavioral characteristics. This was announced by the Armenian branch of the German Nature Conservation Union (NABU).

Recently, the Environmental and Mining Inspection Body of Armenia received a call about a weakened young peregrine falcon found in the vicinity of Alaverdi. Inspection staff transferred the falcon to the "Endemic and Endangered Species Conservation" Foundation, where it is receiving appropriate care.

"Our specialists successfully installed a satellite tag on the falcon, which enables the study of its local movements, behavioral features, ecology, and biology, as well as highlighting some of the threats it faces, such as dangerous electricity poles and wires for the bird," the announcement stated.

It is noted that the bird will be released into the wild in a few days. The work was carried out in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment of Armenia.
