VIDEO: Intense Forest Fires in Gelendzhik, Local Authorities Appeal to Residents

The authorities of Gelendzhik, a resort town in the Krasnodar region of Russia, have appealed to local residents for assistance in extinguishing a forest fire. The city administration announced, via their Telegram channel, that a gathering will take place tomorrow at 8:00 AM Moscow time near a Lukoil gas station.

The administration emphasized that only equipped individuals are needed, preferably those with firefighting experience.

It has been reported that three large forest fires broke out simultaneously in Gelendzhik within a single day. Emergency responders managed to fully extinguish two fires near the Janxot farm and in the vicinity of Mount Nexus, as stated by the Regional Center for Forest Fires.

The third fire was allegedly ignited by a 40-year-old local resident who was preparing electrical cables for sale. The police have arrested the suspected perpetrator of the fire.

In total, the area affected by the forest fire in Gelendzhik spans five hectares, with 195 personnel engaged in firefighting efforts, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as reported by RIA Novosti.
