Azerbaijanis Currently Located Near Kapan Airport, Says E. Ghazaryan
Public and political figure Edgar Ghazaryan stated on his Facebook page:
“Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who made a working visit to the Syunik province of Armenia via a Yerevan-Kapan flight, announced that regular flights between Yerevan and Kapan will commence starting next week after his visit. It was later declared that these flights will occur twice a week—on Mondays and Fridays. The flights were to be operated by the 'Novair' airline using an airplane purchased by the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine.
During Nikol Pashinyan's stay in Syunik, Kapan Airport was subjected to gunfire from Azerbaijan on two occasions. It is important to note that by the criminal decision of Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijanis are currently stationed in close proximity to Kapan Airport.
Following the Prime Minister's visit, on August 21, 2023, only two passengers (likely employees of the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine) traveled from Yerevan to Kapan by plane, while the passengers on the return flight included the deputy governor of Syunik and his advisor. The second flight scheduled was postponed under the pretext of unfavorable weather conditions on this sunny day. It is evident that the issue is primarily related to security, as threats had been issued from Azerbaijan regarding the operation of that airport.
It should be noted that the 'Novair' company intended to operate flights on the Yerevan-Kapan-Yerevan routes as early as 2021, planning to conduct regular flights from January 20 to September 20, 2022, with L410 type aircraft, but canceled its application in October 2021.”
