Lavrov on Western Demands
Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the political strategies of several European countries towards Russia serve the American agenda and are detrimental to their own economies and citizens. This was said after the BRICS summit in Johannesburg.
He remarked that he cannot judge when the West will embrace reason.
“It is an absolutely ideologized group of countries that, as President Putin once noted, sees itself as celestial beings, attempting to replace God. We encounter such individuals sometimes; certain discussions occur behind the scenes, and there is no semblance of reason there. ‘You are an adversary! You are obliged!’ Whom are we obliged to? To whom do we owe?” he articulated.
Earlier, Lavrov had addressed the prospects of negotiations between Russia and the West. According to Lavrov, calls from the West for negotiations are viewed by Moscow as a “tactical ploy” aimed at rearming Kyiv with weapons and ammunition. The minister emphasized that this is “not a path to peaceful resolution, but a path to war.”
