It Is Known Which Countries Will Join BRICS
Potential new members of BRICS could include Argentina, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. This information comes from Jamil Shad, a reporter for the Brazilian UOL portal, referencing a draft of the group's summit's final document.
According to the journalist, one of the main criteria for selection is the geographical factor, which aims to ensure regional balance within the association. “Based on this principle,” writes Shad, “the inclusion of another African country into the alliance is also under discussion.”
The BRICS summit is taking place in Johannesburg from August 22 to 24. On Thursday, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will announce the list of countries that will become new members of the association.
