Video: Bear Scares Kostroma Residents and Climbs a Tree

A grey bear has appeared on one of the streets in Kostroma, and when attempts were made to capture it, the animal climbed a tree 15 meters high. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) had to remove the bear with the help of ladders, the regional headquarters of EMERCOM in Russia reported.

It was noted that on Monday evening, reports came in that a bear was spotted by pedestrians on Tkachey Street in Kostroma. “The city’s rescue services were dispatched to the scene, and the area was cordoned off. The primary objective was to put the bear to sleep to avoid any casualties among residents. The animal climbed approximately 15 meters high in fear, where it was tranquilized with specially used sedatives. EMERCOM employees deployed two ladders, 50 and 30 meters high, to bring it down,” the statement said.
