Armenian Parliament Speaker Calls for Vigilance and Restraint

The Speaker of the Artsakh National Assembly, Davit Ishkhanyan, has issued a statement emphasizing the importance of vigilance and restraint in the current situation.

“As a citizen of the Republic of Artsakh and the Speaker of the National Assembly, I have always fought for the establishment and strengthening of the institutions representing the foundations of our statehood, namely the President of the Republic of Artsakh, the National Assembly, and law enforcement agencies. It is unacceptable to see certain individuals, under the guise of fake calls for unity in public platforms, take steps aimed at undermining the foundations of our statehood,” Ishkhanyan stated.

“I took on the position of Speaker of the National Assembly as a result of the consensus of political forces. I am convinced that this unity will give flesh and blood to the noble idea of preserving statehood, with the legitimate representatives being the institutions of the President and the National Assembly. Any actions aimed at sowing discord and separating and opposing state structures only create animosity within the country and serve the enemy's interests,” he added.

Ishkhanyan expressed confidence that during these difficult times, representatives of the law enforcement agencies are aware of the price and importance of preserving statehood, as well as their responsibility for maintaining our security and internal peace.

“As the second in command of the country's political leadership, I have not remained uninvolved in the process of statehood creation, remaining faithful and steadfast to the objectives embraced by our martyrs. Understanding the importance of internal solidarity, I am ready to invest all my strength to make joint decisions and lead our republic out of this situation with minimal damage,” he said.

As the head of the legislative body, Ishkhanyan expressed his belief that the National Assembly of Artsakh will create all conditions to not only be a platform for political discussions but also to represent and propose solutions to public issues. “I assure you that the National Assembly is prepared to host various segments of society with constructive intentions and is ready to listen to everyone's opinions and convey them to both the President of Artsakh and to the relevant authorities,” he stated.

“Rest assured that we will overcome this difficult situation through our steadfastness, fairness, unwavering dedication, and solidarity. I call on all of you to show vigilance and restraint in the interest of our country and people,” the statement concluded.
