Ukraine to Receive F-16 Fighters from Third Countries: Reuters
The United States has approved the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine by Denmark and the Netherlands. This was reported by Reuters, citing its sources.
According to journalists, Kyiv will receive the aircraft after pilots of the Ukrainian armed forces are trained to operate them.
It was noted that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has written to his Danish and Dutch counterparts, assuring them that Washington supports this move.
"I am writing to convey the full support of the United States for the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, as well as the training of Ukrainian pilots by qualified F-16 instructors," Blinken stated in his letter.
John Kirby, the strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council at the White House, also mentioned that Washington is working with its allies to transfer fourth-generation American F-16 fighter jets from third countries to Kyiv. He noted during a CNN broadcast that U.S. officials want to accomplish this "as soon as possible."
