Turkey Faces Inevitable Destructive Earthquakes, Media Reports

Turkish geologist, Dr. Prof. Ovgün Ahmet Erçan, in an interview with the Kurdish news agency Mezopotamya, has discussed the earthquakes that occurred in Turkey on February 6 and those expected in the future, as reported by Ermenihaber.am.

As the country approaches the 24th anniversary of the Marmara earthquake of August 17, 1999, the geologist has made critical remarks directed at the authorities. "They attribute the earthquake to fate, thereby attempting to make it acceptable to society," he stated.

He also identified the country's economic troubles as a primary reason for the loss of human life resulting from the aforementioned earthquake and anticipated future earthquakes. The specialist is convinced that without resolving economic issues, it will not be possible to address the earthquake-related concerns effectively.
