The government allocated funds for the formation of a water patrol unit. Interior Minister Vahe Ghazaryan, presenting the draft decision, noted that the purpose of establishing the water patrol unit is to enhance the effectiveness of combating violations in and around Lake Sevan.

"It will provide a new approach to ensuring a safe and secure lake in all respects," he said.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that it is planned to acquire four motorboats approximately 10 meters long with state budget resources and support from international partners. Drones will also be procured, which will be used to monitor the lake.

According to Pashinyan, illegal fishing in Lake Sevan will practically become impossible.

"We have also established specific procedures for how fishing from the lake will be conducted, and from today, the police, the regional administration, and the Ministry of Environment must actively engage with fishermen to explain what will take place," he added.
