VIDEO: Illegal Fee Collectors at Parking Lots Fined
Charging fees for parking beyond the established rates is prohibited. Despite the legal requirements, some individuals, presenting themselves as parking attendants, set up unauthorized signs and attempt to guide drivers on where and how to park, in exchange for certain amounts of money. This issue is particularly acute in the city center.
The City Hall of Yerevan continues daily inspections in collaboration with the patrol service and other police units. This was reported by the Yerevan Municipality.
According to Aram Gyulzadyan, the head of the public order maintenance service at the Yerevan Municipality, "The Administrative Offenses Code stipulates a fine of 70,000 to 100,000 drams, and in case of repeat offenses, the fine increases to 200,000 drams." The income for the day depends on the generosity of the driver, ranging from 100-200 drams to several thousand drams.
Violators engaged in illegal activities are identified and fined on the spot. However, the Municipality's goal is not to penalize citizens but to uphold public order in accordance with the law. The community is even ready to assist in job placement within municipal institutions.
Another issue related to parking and road safety is the placement of unauthorized signs. Throughout the day, mobile groups visit the same addresses several times. The signs in the area between Abovyan and Sayat Nova streets have already been removed for the third time.
The Yerevan Municipality will continue monitoring until the issue is resolved. For further details, see the video.
