Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Issues Statement on UN Discussions

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a statement regarding discussions at the United Nations concerning the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. According to the Ministry, Armenia's attempts to utilize the UN Security Council for its own campaign have failed.

"Azerbaijan hopes that Armenia will realize that the resolution of issues lies in constructive cooperation and the honest implementation of international legal norms and obligations," the statement reads.

“The discussions once again demonstrated that Azerbaijan's proposal regarding the use of the Aghdam-Khankendi road has been positively received by the international community, and that the obstacles created by Armenia must be decisively removed to ensure the legal and transparent delivery of goods to Karabakh,” the statement continues.

According to Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry, they have offered Armenia peace based on mutual recognition and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries.

“On the other hand, we are implementing a reintegration policy for the ethnically Armenian population of the Nagorno-Karabakh region as equal citizens, ensuring all their rights and freedoms in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan and all relevant international human rights mechanisms. We are determined to protect our sovereignty and territorial integrity by all legal means provided for in the UN Charter and international law,” they stated.
