Three Bulgarian Citizens Arrested Presenting Themselves as Journalists
Three Bulgarian citizens arrested on suspicion of spying for Russia have presented themselves as journalists working for American television networks, according to reports from Times citing police sources.
On the previous day, three Bulgarian citizens were detained in the United Kingdom on allegations of espionage on behalf of Russia. It has been mentioned that the arrested individuals have been in custody since February, with their trial scheduled to take place in London in January 2024. They are noted to be Bulgarian nationals but have lived in the UK for many years.
It is believed that they were working for Russian intelligence services. They are accused of possessing identification documents with "illegal intent", with suggestions that the defendants were aware that the documents were forged.
