The Number of Ambulance Calls in Yerevan Has Increased Sharply Due to Heatwaves

During the hottest days of this summer, from August 10 to 14, the number of ambulance calls in Yerevan has risen sharply. Ruben Grigoryan, the director of the Ambulance Service, stated this to a Sputnik Armenia correspondent.

“Before August 10, we were receiving around 750 calls daily, but during the peak heat, that number reached 800-830. The majority of the calls are related to cardiovascular diseases and issues related to blood pressure. There have also been instances of heat strokes, though they are rare,” he noted.

The news outlet reports that according to Grigoryan, rare calls have been associated with food poisoning. The director of the Ambulance Service advises citizens to drink plenty of water, avoid fried foods, and consume fruits and vegetables.

It is also noted that earlier, Gagik Surenyan, the deputy director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, announced a significant rise in air temperature in Armenia from August 10 to 14. Due to the influx of powerful heat flows from the Arabian Peninsula, temperatures in Yerevan and the Ararat Plain reached between +40 and +42 degrees Celsius from 16:00 to 18:00.
