Criminal Case Launched Against Armenian Reservist Arrested by Azerbaijan
The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan has launched a criminal case against an Armenian reservist who was arrested today by Azerbaijani soldiers on charges of violating the state border. This information has been reported by Azerbaijani media, citing an official statement from law enforcement authorities.
The Azerbaijani side has presented the arrested Armenian reservist as a member of a "subversive group" and is charging him with several serious offenses, including terrorism.
It is worth noting that the Armenian Ministry of Defense released a statement today indicating that on August 16, reservist G. V. had, according to preliminary data, voluntarily left his combat position. Search operations were underway to locate him.
Later, the Azerbaijani side reported that they had detained the Armenian soldier. The adversary did not miss the opportunity to spread another piece of misinformation, alleging that there had indeed been a "attempted incursion".
The Armenian defense ministry refuted the Azerbaijani statements, stating that the report claiming that the Armenian Armed Forces had attempted an incursion in the eastern part of the border zone is absolutely false.
